The black candle mood board :


 Mood Board for The Black Candle 

Props:

Black Candles



1. The Candle projects the entity entering the house and also represents a dark eerie atmosphere.

2. Convention used is Mise-En-Scene.

3. The Candle will be used in the circle of salt and will be in the beginning of our first two minute shot as we film the candle of salt.


Rose Petals



1. This image has a symbolic meaning and represents passion and love, the spiritual meaning of the rose petals would mean God's love at work and this shows that there has been a lot of passion and love and  effort used to cast a spell.

2. The convention being used is a Mise-En-Scene

3. The Rose Peats will be scattered around the candles creating the salt circle and they will also be used when the house owner has left the house leaving his note behind.


Village Broom



1. The village Broom symbolises protection and spiritual cleansing. The meaning behind the broom is to sweep all the bad fortune away and protect against evil.

2. The convention used here is Mise-En-Scene.

3. In the film we will be using the village broom as a prop to show our audience that we are cleaners and we have arrived for cleaning, until we come across an unspoken entity.


Salt ( Circle of Salt )



1. The salt symbolises purification, usefulness and Value. However in our short film the salt represents the circle of salt which is the circle that has allowed the entity to enter the house.

2. This convention is a Mise-En-Scene

3. During the film we will come across the circle of salt in many different shots, this is because the circle of salt has a big role in our film and it is the starting and ending to every entity to ever be involved in the spiritual realm.


Costume Ideas

Village suits



1. This is the outfit that all three girls in the short film are wearing. However it wont be the exact outfit but the outfit would most likely be similar to the outfit in the picture above. All three girls will be wearing a bandana to cover their hair in a form of respect and will be representing Turkish village girls.

2. The convention used here is Genre

3. In the short film all three girls will be wearing an outfit similar to this outfit to represent the Turkish village girls as they sweep down the house.


House Owners Outfit



1. This image represents the houseowner of the house that the three Turkish girls will be working in, The house owner is a man who is very creepy and has a hat on him at all times he does not wear the same above outfit on top but a similar outfit to the image above. 

2. The convention used is Genre.

3. The House owner is a very creepy man who allows the three girls to work for him.


Locations

Hainault Forest



1. The symbolic meaning for this picture is potential danger, mystery and other worlds. This picture is our location for the short film and this will be shot in Hainault Forest allowing us to get a better view and better camera angles in our shots, this place is not going to have any public citizens around us.

2. The convention is  Mise-En-Scene

3. In the short film the girls will start off by teleporting from the forest into their reality world, however the girls will be unaware that it even happened to them.



Meriyem (Meri) House






1. The symbolic meaning for this picture has no meaning however it is supposed to be a mansion which has been left unattended by the owner of the house, the use of meristem house is to show that the house is an unattended mansion. 

2. The convention is Mise-En-scene 

3. In the short film the girls wakeup in the bedroom and the house owner has activated the curse towards the end of our short film.
